Abstract

A Theological Perspective on the Concept of Alterity in the Contemporary Context.
Contemporary society is highly developed and complex, yet it is sometimes lacking in building bridges of communication between people. Contributing factors to this issue include social media, computer game addiction, and other recent developments in the field of technology. Many citizens feel isolated and seek acceptance and understanding. In this complex context, we ought to demonstrate acceptance of others, with their distinct identities, without attempting to turn them into replicas of ourselves. Miroslav Volf ’s view - opening one’s arms to embrace others, then reopening them - can serve as a universal paradigm. Likewise, the theological approach to the concept of inclusion, following the model of Christ, the Holy Trinity, and Eucharistic theology, helps us to understand that alterity involves a profound spiritual dimension.
