The importance of education and its role in combating extremism.
One of the multiple problems facing contemporary society is the crisis due to extremism. Extremism takes different forms, from vulgarity in expression, to insulting, bullying, aggression or other forms of violence. This attitude of some people which tends to despise the fellows, to exclude them from the proximity of a certain group, represents a priority that must be addressed by clear decision-makers such as parents, teachers, priests/pastors, politicians, and other kinds of people with influence in society. Although it would be a utopian perspective to think of total eradication of extremism, we still have the duty, as far as we can, to involve ourselves in reducing this scourge. Neither the provision of new technological products, nor major coercive measures can bring about a profound transformation of these trends, but only a responsible education in families, in schools and in churches, only the clear understanding of Christian faith, has the power to bring hope for a safer and happier future in society.
