The role of symbols in education for individual values and freedoms by George F. McLean.
The role of the symbol is vital in the process of knowledge and education that has in attention the transmission of values and the awareness of individual freedom and rights. To show why the symbol is important in education for values and individual freedom for George F. McLean, we will first present some reasons in favour of (1) reaffirming the value of the symbol for avoiding individualism and extremism, then we will show some (2) universal pedagogical implications of the symbol, after we will refer to (3) the historical significance of the symbol and its value for education, and finally we will bring to attention (4) the importance of symbolic thinking for education in the spirit of universal values and individual freedom.
