Freedom a Prerequisite for Education with Love by George F. McLean.
Professor George F. McLean shows a continuing concern in his writings for how freedom influences human existence and the experience of knowledge. He develops this theme in relation to various values such as love, wisdom, generosity, unity, respect, faith, harmony, subjectivism and others. To argue how the value of love is present in his writings we will refer to three major directions that we will put in relation to the educational experience and freedom. First, we will refer to the ontological character of love, by the nature of its divine source and manifestation (God is love and promises freedom: 1 John 4:8 and John 8:32). Second, we will show that love and freedom create a avourable context for epistemological experiences, while also being tools that facilitate knowledge. And thirdly, we will argue to support the idea that love and freedom are the ingredients without which social harmony cannot be achieved. McLean is interested in these issues because he is concerned with some functional applications (in the context of freedom) that can make significant contributions to knowledge and self-affirmation, as well as to establishing effective relationships between people of different cultures or religions.
