Abstract

Religious freedom and conscience in the context of globalization appears a symbol charged of intellectual, ethical and emotional meaning. To debate, to discuss, and to analyze this subject generate a certain emotion and involve some a priori from the actors involved. The question that arises here is how to take “an ethical distance (especially politically correct) for laicity at the service of freedom” (Cisse, 2010)? This question leads us to consider this heavy concept in history and meanings in the context of the communication of faith in the public sphere starting from two case studies that we consider paradigmatic.
