Key aspects of the Freedom of Conscience

Abstract

Freedom of conscience is considered to be a gift, not a right. When it is presented as a gift it is referred to the fact that man has received the gift of freedom from the Creator, a gift that every human being receives when coming into this world. This gift only needs to be recognized by the state and legal entities. Freedom of religion is considered to be an essential component of freedom of conscience, an universal good, inherent to the human being and dignity. The needs of people even dressed in the highest form of rules, conventions, treaties or laws, should never be put above the divine requirements, because man must always set his standards, both the personal and the institutional, in a relationship of subordination to the requirements of God the Creator.
