Between Two Worlds: Pleading for a Metaphysical Dimension of Life
From the very beginning, the man felt in contradiction with his own existence and torn by his weaknesses. In art and science, in philosophical meditations, or in daily affliction, his longing for something else is evident. Frequently, the human spirit, suffocated by anguish and confused by its own landmarks, has come to be struck by the absurdity of existence, and then it tried to find out a subjective truth and to invent a meaning. In this article, I have attempted to convey the aspect of man’s inclination to metaphysics, embodied in his most complex and well-known hypostasis – Christian teaching –, emphasizing the living of Christians in the two worlds, the visible and actual world, respectively the spiritual and future world. Therefore, the parallel we are going to follow is present/material vs. future/spiritual and we will uncover it in the context of Christian teaching.
