Abstract

In terms of religion, the third millennium seems to have started with a permanent spiritual challenge. The challenge would come from certain trends, namely, on the one hand, through a return to a pagan or neo-pagan thought and, on the other hand, through a return to a syncretistic view where faith no longer has its own acuity, is no longer bounded to a revelation, but is rather a mixture of beliefs. The third trend, much more painful and stressed, consists in the emergence of religious fundamentalism and its increasingly violent imposition in relation to other faiths.
