Abstract

A Better Understanding of Human Rights from the Perspective of Semiotics.
The current society is under the empire of human rights. In the rhetoric of  this field, there are ubiquitous terms such as equality, freedom, diversity,  concepts that have begun to be the subject of a relatively recent discipline:  semiotics or, also called, semiology. Through this paper we try to show a  series of results of the semiotic analyzes carried out in the sphere of human  rights. The specificity of the studies in the field consists in researching the  existing relationships between the signified and the signifier, the process of  assigning meanings to the mentioned theme. The researchers’ concerns  focused on several topics related to human rights: legal language, corporate  world in relation to human rights, the influence of culture in the  understanding of human rights and so on. The research has brought to light  the fact that regarding the terms representing human rights used in the legal  system and those used in society, there is an obvious discrepancy. Also, in  order to decode some visual messages, a more in-depth knowledge is needed  than that offered by the existing consensus at the level of society, by  which it is clearly known that certain objects can only have one meaning or  another. Sometimes the decryption code of the message, is not obvious.
