Freedom of Conscience and Medical Impositions Generated by a Health Crisis – A Theological Perspective.
I will relate the authority of religious organisations, as the body forming religious beliefs, to the authority of the state, the body responsible for regulation. I am interested in showing how the two authorities should manifest their power without coming into conflict, but rather to be of use in solving possible health crises. Another concept used will be that of healing, again relating the biblical view of healing to that of healing the body. I will also analyse some of the specific problems raised by the declared opponents of the medical measures imposed, trying not only to list these objections but also to offer solutions so that the proposed medical act meets the ethical conditions laid down by the perspective addressed.
