The role of female religious communities in the processes of social integration between gender identity and the fight against discrimination
The social, economic, political, health and environmental crises that continue to manifest themselves in actual’s global society appear to increasingly weaken the system of guaranteeing the fundamental rights of the most vulnerable, such as migrants, especially women and children. Although international, supranational and national institutions cooperate to ensure a governance of migratory phenomena that is able to introduce positive actions for the respect and realisation of human rights, there are several episodes of discrimination that continue to occur from the point of view of their real enjoyment. Within the broader framework of initiatives and policies to combat these social emergencies, the role and contribution of social actors, particularly women’s religious organisations, appear to be of considerable impact. Through the planning and implementation of projects that we could define as socially sustainable, they contribute to the promotion of social inclusion that is effectively just and inclusive.
