Abstract

A Biblical and Theological Perspective on the Role of the Church and Christians in Achieving Peace and Reconciliation.
In turbulent times, religions can manifest themselves in various forms. We are often exposed to violent events committed in the name of religion in the media. However, religious beliefs also have the capacity to contribute to  establishing peace, defending human rights, and encouraging social justice and reconciliation. The same faith that can incite destruction and violence can also bring harmony, forgiveness, tolerance, and optimism. Building peace is an essential mission for Christians and benefits all of humanity, not just those of the same faith. It reflects our beliefs and a picture of the Kingdom of God, being, in a way, an ideal toward which we strive. This is because, although the Kingdom was inaugurated through the death and resurrection of Christ, it has not been fully established and will not happen until His return, when He will bring about a new creation. The study emphasizes the important role of the church and reconciliation in these historical developments, noting that the church can be a valuable collaborator in this endeavor. Ultimately, it argues that Christians can contribute positively by fulfilling their biblical calling to spread peace, healing, and reconciliation in a world often marked by hardship.
