Abstract

The Correlation between the Level of Civic Education and the Prevention of Human Rights Violations: an Approach from the Perspective of Social Work.
The present article proposes a theoretical analysis of the correlation between the level of civic education and the prevention of human rights violations, with a distinct focus on the role of social assistance. Starting from the premise of human rights, although legally formalized, they are essentially a social construct, we argue that their effectiveness depends on the degree to which they are internalized by citizens. We argue that civic education is the main mechanism by which this internalization is achieved, cultivating attitudes of respect, empathy and social responsibility. This theoretical approach is strengthened by integrating an interview with a social worker who works at a Day Center for children. The practical perspective provided by the interview validates the hypotheses, highlighting how early educational interventions, adapted to children’s needs, contribute to awareness of rights and the development of proactive prevention behavior. Following the analysis of this interview, it was highlighted that the lack of civic education increases children’s vulnerability and that early interventions have a lasting impact, transforming them into responsible citizens. Thus, the article explores the theoretical foundations of this approach, emphasizing the need to integrate the principles of civic education into the practice of social assistance and proposing a theoretical framework for a more effective and sustainable social intervention, based on combining theoretical knowledge with practical experience.
